Position Summary
Annexon Biosciences is seeking a Senior Vice President/ Vice President, Corporate Communications to lead corporate communications including strategy, development, patient advocacy and execution of marketing and communications programs. The Senior VP/VP will develop and lead a strategic vision that strengthens and protects Annexon’s corporate brand. This role will report to the CEO and will play a key role in helping to develop Annexon’s long-term strategic plan.
The SVP/VP of Communications will also serve as a senior advisor to the executive team on emerging industry trends and impact, marketing and communications best practices. The successful candidate will be a visionary storyteller and inspirational leader. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires a highly experienced leader who thrives in a high-growth, fast-paced business environment. Like all Annexon leaders, the SVP/VP Corporate Communications incumbent will have a deep-rooted commitment to serving patients and a passion for transforming the lives of people with serious diseases and their families.
Investor Relations – helpful, not required for this role. This role may also be leveraged to help build and maintain strong relationships with investors.
Responsibilities
- Leads Annexon’s Corporate Communications strategy. Develop and lead Annexon’s strategic corporate communications planning and execution of internal and external communications programs.
- Translates broad corporate strategies into clear, specific objectives and develops relevant corporate communications strategies and programs.
- Ensures communications strategy is integrated across all stakeholders and audiences including Executives, leadership team, employees, investors, HCP community, and patient advocacy.
- Create and deliver programs that will allow Annexon’s Executive and leadership teams to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences, including the media and key influencers.
- Develop a robust targeting and outreach strategy and plans. Ensure the communications strategy is integrated and consistently messaged and to all the organization’s stakeholders, including Executives, leadership teams, employees, investors, patient advocacy and HCP community investors and media. Creates plans that address specific business objectives, regulatory developments and marketplace dynamics.
- Builds relationships and credibility that strengthens Annexon’s corporate brand and reputation as a leading company (Employer of Choice) within our relevant industry sectors.
- Engage and educate stakeholders and audiences. Consistently communicates Annexon’s business model, corporate communications strategy and messaging to all audiences.
- Manages the planning, development and execution of integrated communication programs, product and services including: events, newsletters, Annexon’s external website, other online and print materials, media relations and launch activities.
- Architect core channels, content, and best practices for internal communications to increase awareness, drive engagement and reinforce cultural norms and values
- Crystallization of a creative, impactful and visionary corporate communications including key internal and external messaging to advance Annexon’s value creation narrative.
- Develop high quality content including the use of data and insights to develop content including, press releases, planning documents, executive presentations, talking points, website content, as well as other multi-channel content and messaging.
- Flawlessly execute quarterly earnings communications, conferences, presentations, and visits with institutional investors.
- Develop and maintain deep knowledge of the biopharma industry including competitors, clients and market dynamics.
Key Qualifications
- 15 – 20 years of experience in corporate communications, with at least 10 years experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry sector.
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree is an advantage.
- Expert presentation skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. A visionary storyteller with experience driving engagement and delivering strategic communications across internal and external stakeholders and a proven track record of achieving results that align with business needs.
- Ability to develop high quality content including communications plans, presentation materials, as well as executive and stakeholder content.
- Able to assess, understand, prepare communications content, and respond to complex scientific and clinical data inquiries.
- Inspirational and trusted advisor with demonstrated experience designing, implementing and leading a world-class corporate communications strategies and programs that delivers measurable results.
- Proven relationship building skills and demonstrated ability to earn the trust and confidence of senior leaders in a high-performance environment.
- Self-driven/entrepreneurial and resourceful towards getting things done in a small fast-paced company environment.
